  56. I'll answer this to the mailing list since it is a sufficiently common
  57. problem that sparks numerous inquiries.

  59. I am not using JNOS, but the general issues are similar.  The DRSI card
  60. can be used with either the "drsi" interface driver or the generic "scc"
  61. interface driver.  The "drsi" driver is considered obsolete, however.

  63. Here is the relevant part of AUTOEXEC.NOS to attach the board:

  75. Note that there are some important considerations.  The offset to next chip
  76. must be non-zero, even if there is only one chip; I use 0x10 because that is
  77. standards for DRSI hardware if a second board were ever installed.  The
  78. receiver buffer size setting (512 bytes) must be strictly less than the
  79. "mem ibufsize" setting and larger than the longest AX.25 frames passed on
  80. your LAN.  Inspect the "Iminfree" and "Ibuffail" counters with the "mem stat"
  81. display; "Ibuffail" should be zero if everything is working correctly.

  110. Well, for some time I have been MD-5 hashing the passwords that I store
  111. in /ftpusers, just in case the file is stolen. But they still go over
  112. the air in plaintext.

  147. I have a NOS user ref. manual written by ka9q and pa0gri which 
  148. reflects version 911229 of NOS 2.01. I would like to know if there 
  149. exists addenda to this manual - other than an occasional "read.me" 
  150. file that one seldom finds with different versions of NOS. Either 
  151. that or perhaps there is a newer manual altogether. Thanks.
